Professional Shingle Roofing
Services in New York
Asphalt shingles are the most common roofing material in Western New York for good reason. Properly installed, a modern architectural shingle roof handles Lake Effect snow loads, ice dams, and summer storms for 25 to 50 years. The catch is that the install has to be done right by a manufacturer-certified contractor with the right materials and details.
We install shingle systems from GAF and Owens Corning, the two biggest manufacturers in the country. Both certify our crews on their full system: starter strip, ice and water shield, synthetic underlayment, drip edge, ridge venting, and architectural shingles. Using one full system gets you a 30 to 50 year warranty that holds up if you ever need to claim it.
Every shingle job starts with a free inspection and a written estimate. We climb your roof, document the condition with photos, and show you exactly what you're paying for. No high-pressure sales, no fake urgency. If your roof can be repaired instead of replaced, we tell you that too.
Shingle Roof Installation
New shingle roof installation in Buffalo and Rochester starts with the deck. We inspect every plywood sheet for rot, water damage, and soft spots. Anything compromised gets replaced before the new roof goes on. A shingle roof is only as good as the deck under it.
Once the deck is sound, we install ice and water shield on the eaves (at least 24 inches past the warm wall), in valleys, and around penetrations. Synthetic underlayment covers the rest. Drip edge goes on before the underlayment at the eaves and over it at the rakes. Step flashing around chimneys, sidewalls, and skylights gets replaced with new material, not reused.
Architectural shingles are installed with six nails per shingle in our climate zone. Ridge cap goes on last with proper ventilation. We use the same manufacturer for every component to keep the warranty intact. Most residential installs are done in two to four days.

Shingle Repair and Replacement
Most shingle calls in Western New York are repairs: missing shingles after a wind storm, a leak around a chimney, ice dam damage, or hail strikes. We come out, climb up, and find the actual source of the problem. Sometimes a $400 flashing repair solves it. Sometimes the roof has reached the end of its life and patching it is throwing money away.
Shingle replacement starts with a complete tear-off down to the deck. We don't install over old shingles. Layering hides deck rot, voids warranties, and adds weight your structure may not be rated for. After tear-off, we inspect the deck, replace damaged plywood, and install the new system from scratch.
If your roof was damaged by a storm, we work with your insurance. We photograph and measure the damage, meet your adjuster on site, and write a scope that matches insurance requirements. Most clients pay only their deductible. We've handled hundreds of storm claims in Buffalo and Rochester over the past 10 years.

Why Shingle Quality Matters in New York
Western New York is rough on shingle roofs. Lake Effect snow off Lake Erie and Lake Ontario can dump four feet in a single storm. Ice dams form when warm attic air melts snow at the ridge and water refreezes at the cold eaves, then backs up under the shingles. Without proper ice and water shield, you get leaks every January.
Manufacturer certification matters because it's the only way to get the long workmanship warranties. GAF Master Elite and Owens Corning Preferred Contractors go through training, pass inspections, and carry the right insurance. We're certified by both. That means you get the 30 to 50 year warranty packages instead of the standard 10 to 15 year coverage.
New York building code requires ice and water shield from the eave inward, proper attic ventilation, and specific flashing details. A shingle roof installed without those will pass the eye test on day one and start leaking by the second winter. We follow code on every job because cutting corners shows up later.
