Professional Siding Installation
Services in New York
Siding is your home's first defense against Western New York weather. Lake Effect snow piles up against walls, ice forms behind gutters, summer storms drive rain horizontally, and freeze-thaw cycles work joints loose. The siding you pick and the way it's installed determine whether your house stays dry for 30 years or starts rotting in five.
We install two main siding systems: vinyl (the most popular and budget-friendly option) and fiber cement (Hardie board, which costs more but lasts longer and handles fire and impact better). Both work in Buffalo and Rochester climates when installed correctly with proper house wrap, flashing, and ventilation.
Every siding job starts with a free inspection. We check your existing siding, sheathing, and any moisture damage underneath. We give you a written estimate with scope, materials, and price before any work starts.
New Siding Installation
New siding installation in Buffalo and Rochester starts with tear-off of the old siding and inspection of the sheathing underneath. Rotted plywood gets replaced. Then we install house wrap (Tyvek or equivalent) properly lapped to shed water down and out, not behind the siding.
For vinyl siding we install starter strip level at the bottom, J-channel around windows and doors, and corner posts at the corners. Panels lock into each other and into the starter strip. We leave proper expansion gaps because vinyl moves with temperature.
Fiber cement siding (Hardie board) is heavier, harder, and installs differently. We pre-prime cut edges, blind-nail according to spec, and use butt joint flashing behind every vertical seam. Done right, fiber cement lasts 30 to 50 years in Western New York and looks like real wood without the maintenance.

Siding Repair and Replacement
Most siding calls in Western New York are repairs: cracked panels from impacts, ice damage along the eaves, blown-off pieces after a windstorm, or sections damaged by a tree branch. We match the existing color and profile when we can.
When a section of siding is repeatedly failing, it's usually a symptom of a bigger issue: water getting behind the siding from a roof flashing problem or ice dams forcing water into the wall. We diagnose the source before patching, because repairing the visible damage without fixing the cause means the same repair next year.
Full siding replacement is the right call when the existing siding is 25-plus years old, multiple sections have failed, or the sheathing underneath has moisture damage. Most full replacements take five to ten days for an average home.

Why Siding Quality Matters in New York
Siding in Western New York deals with conditions that destroy poorly installed systems. Snow stacks against walls for months. Ice dams force water behind siding when shingle and underlayment details fail. Freeze-thaw cycles work nails loose and pull panels apart.
Quality siding installation means proper water management. House wrap has to be lapped correctly. Window and door flashings have to be installed before siding goes on, with self-adhered membrane at the head and sill.
Wind exposure ratings, fire ratings near property lines, and proper flashing details around openings are all part of New York residential code. A siding job that skips house wrap or flashing details fails inspection and starts rotting walls within three to five winters.
